Ferdinand J. Plavidal, MD

Ferdinand J. Plavidal, M.D., received his bachelor’s degree in 1968 form the University of New Orleans.  He went on to obtain his medical degree from Louisiana State University in 1972. Upon graduation, Dr.  Plavidal moved to Houston, Texas, where he completed his Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology with the Baylor College of Medicine in 1976.

He then served on active duty as a Major in the United States Air Force Medical Corps, returning to Houston to enter private practice in the Texas medical Center. He has been a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baylor College of Medicine and has served as the President of the Houston Gynecologic and Obstetric Society. He has held numerous appointments at the Woman’s Hospital of Texas including Chief of the Medical Staff, President of the Board of Trustees, and as Chief of the Obstetrics Service for over 25 years.

In the community, he has served as a Scoutmaster with Wood Badge and Silver Beaver awards. Dr. Plavidal has recently confined his practice to gynecology and gynecologic surgery. He is recognized on The Texas Superior Doctors Hall of Fame listed in Texas Monthly magazine.
